LARRY ROHRBACH

Larry Rohrbach spent twenty years as one of the most involved legislators in the Missouri State Capitol.  When term limits forced his retirement from the Missouri Senate in 2002 Larry began using his experience and expertise to lobby for a select group of clients.  Rohrbach also serves as a very knowledgeable set of "eyes and ears" in the State Capitol for our firm.

Involved in state finances for most of his legislative career, Rohrbach rose to the Vice Chairmanship of both the Senate Appropriations Committee as well as the tax writing Senate Ways and Means Committee.  He is noted for his solid understanding of the state budget.

Rohrbach chaired the Senate Insurance Committee, working for a fair and free market place for the insurance industry and consumers alike. He successfully sponsored major insurance legislation.

He was the first Republican in history to chair the Joint Committee on Corrections and was also a member of the Missouri Sentencing Commission. Rohrbach co-chaired the Senate Majority Fund in 1999-2000, leading to victories creating the first Republican majority in over 50 years.

In the Missouri House, where Rohrbach served from 1982-1990, he was chosen by his colleagues as Republican Caucus Chairman, and later moved up to Assistant Minority Leader.  In addition to other assignments, Rohrbach was a member of the House Insurance Committee and the House Appropriations Committee for Social Services.

Supportive of a good business climate, Larry received the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the Voice of Missouri Business Award from the Associated Industries of Missouri, as well as the Legislator of the Year Award from the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents, the Legislator of the Year from the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and the Leadership in Healthcare Policy Award from the St. Louis Area Business Health Coalition.

Rohrbach also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jefferson City Branch of NAACP, the Outstanding Legislator Award from the Missouri Police Chief's Association, and recognitions from Missouri Right to Life and the Political Advocacy Legislative Achievement Award from the Adoption and Foster Care Coalition of Missouri.  He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Lincoln University.

Not just depending on summaries written by staffers, Rohrbach earned a well-deserved reputation as a prodigious reader of legislation that quickly got to the "bottom line" of a proposal.  Not just in the bills he passed, but also in the successful amendments drafted both in committee and on the floor, his "word-smithing" is found many places in Missouri statutes.  It was only natural that Rohrbach served as Chair of the Joint Committee on Legislative Research, the legal and fiscal arm of the legislature that drafts bills and fiscal notes as well as editing and printing the Revised Statutes of Missouri.
